CEO’s Message

MRAEL was founded over 35 years ago as a community-based organisation with the aim of creating greater apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities for individuals, and to assist businesses to build the capability of their workforce to meet industry needs. In the intervening years we have diversified our services and enjoyed significant growth—but our very first business goal is still at the heart of what we do every day.

Over its lifetime, MRAEL has employed and managed more than 25,000 apprentices and trainees; facilitated the training and assessment of thousands of students undertaking Vocational Education and Training (VET); supported hundreds of school students to complete their senior schooling and transition into sustainable career pathways; and delivered community-based support services and programs to people from disadvantaged backgrounds. All of this contributes to our established reputation as ‘The People People’.

But what does it mean to be ‘The People People’? For us, it means continuing to strive to be the leading provider of education, training and employment services in the communities in which we operate. It means working with our clients to know their business and to have the right solution that meets their needs. And perhaps most important of all, it means working with people to understand what they want to be, and how we can help them to achieve it. Put simply, we’re committed to delivering workforce and people development solutions that ensure future competency and sustainability.

One of our greatest strengths as an organisation is our own people – the more than 160 employees that make up our team and strive every day towards our business goals. Our people are knowledgeable, experienced and enthusiastic. They are unreservedly committed to the achievement of positive outcomes for the clients and stakeholders they work with, and are keen advocates of the opportunities available through quality education, training and employment pathways. We are so fortunate to have a team like we do, and we strongly believe our people are one of the greatest contributors to our success as an organisation.

MRAEL now operates across Queensland and in New South Wales, delivering innovative approaches to supporting apprentices, trainees, students and businesses. We’re focussed on increasing both the quality and quantity of new employment and training opportunities, and to support the development of sustainable career pathways for all people.

We have come a long way at MRAEL since we first began business in 1985, and our future is bright!
