A new initiative has been launched to provide additional support for parents and carers for children under 6, who are not in paid employment.
Mackay Regional leader, Rebecca Griinke, spoke about the newly announced Parent Pathways program that is set to be delivered by MRAEL. “Parent Pathways is a voluntary support and assistance program for parents and carers with children under 6 years old”, she explained. The program aims to address various challenges faced by parents and carers, including those related to childcare, studies, support services, and employment opportunities.
The program’s approach will include the utilisation of mobile and outreach services, ensuring that help reaches parents and carers who might not be able to access help otherwise. Griinke also mentioned that the outreach locations will include Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Moranbah, Nebo, Proserpine, and Sarina.
