William Jnr.’s connection with McBurney Engineering began well before he officially started his apprenticeship. During Years 9 and 10, he spent time observing the workshop and gaining his first insight into the engineering industry.
As his interest in the trade grew, William Jnr. returned during Years 11 and 12 to complete hands-on work experience during the school holidays, building valuable skills, confidence and industry knowledge along the way.
Working alongside experienced tradespeople, including his grandfather and McBurney Engineering owner William McBurney, helped turn that early interest into a genuine passion for engineering and machining.
In May 2026, William Jnr. took the next step, commencing his Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship with the family-owned business.
